Best Practices for Messaging with a candidate

Follow the tips below on how best to message candidates.

  • The first message should contain your full name, position with the company, and your company email.

Example #1 - Candidate has not applied


 Hi, my name is Pete Neubig, I am the CEO of VPM Solutions, we noticed your profile and would like for you to apply to our position of executive assistant.  You can reach me through VPM messaging or email me directly at pete@vpmsolutions.com


Example #2 - Candidate has applied


Thank you for applying for our executive assistant job role.  My name is Pete Neubig and I am the CEO of VPM Solutions, thank you for applying to our position.  We will be reviewing your application within the next 3 business days.   You can reach me through VPM messaging or email me directly at pete@vpmsolutions.com




  • Must respond quickly to any message.  Recommended responding within a couple of hours.  No later than 24 hours.  We have seen a decline in response from candidates if you do not respond within 24 hours.
  • Review your emails and notifications button (the bell icon on the top right of VPM platform) a couple of times per day to be able to respond.
  • When asking for an item from the candidate (Example, video) always give a deadline of when the items must be completed by.  Recommended deadline is 24 to 48 hours.
