Do I get a commission when someone creates a profile?

Commissions are accrued once the virtual assistant is hired and receives payment or once the employer you referred hired and paid a virtual assistant.  Commissions are only accrued once payments are processed and paid out.  As long as the people referred are paying assistants or is getting paid you will continue to earn commissions.
