It is a good practice to always run a background check. As business owners we have all heard the mantra “Hire slow and fire fast”. By taking the time to run a background check (results will vary depending on the country of residence) you eliminate any potential doubts as to the quality of the person you are hiring.
If you are trying to save time or money and are thinking of not running a background check, we highly recommend any team member that is going to have access to any sensitive data - banking information, social security numbers, etc - a criminal background check should be run.
